Families Matter!

Families Matter! is a parenting awareness and drug risk education program. This program provides community-based intervention services to parenting males and females at risk for involvement or currently involved with the Department of Family and Protective Services who are at high-risk for substance use disorder. Target population - Texas residents whose youngest child is under the age of six years of age or expecting parents. We also accept referrals from Community Correction Departments, Family Attorneys, School Counselors, Outreach, Screening and Referrals (OSAR) program, Substance Use Treatment Facilities and/or individuals that wish to help parent who are at risk for substance use disorders.

Families Matter! helps parents be the best they can be. Our experienced staff help develop and enhance parenting and life skills, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage communication and provide support.

The Program Includes

  • Program services offered Monday thru Friday during the day and evenings
  • Case management services
  • Educational approach to decrease the affects of substance use within the family
  • Positive alternative activities to increase family nurturing and bonding
  • Skill building educational sessions utilizing evidence-based practices
  • Collaboration with community
    organizations that lead to comprehensive linkage to services
  • Classes for parents offered in English and Spanish
