Impact Youth Programs
Impact Youth programs are programs which promote a proactive process to address health and wellness for youth, families, and communities by enhancing protective factors that increase knowledge, skills, and attitudes for making healthy choices. Services address the State’s four prevention priorities: underage alcohol use, tobacco and nicotine product use, marijuana and other cannabinoid use, and prescription drug misuse.

Universal vs. Indicated
Universal prevention programs provide universal services utilizing associated strategies to broad populations without consideration of individual differences in risk for substance use and misuse. Universal prevention strategies take the broadest approach and are designed to reach entire groups or populations, e.g. schools, workplaces, whole communities.
Indicated programs provide individualized services related to substance use and misuse that address specific risk conditions. Indicated prevention strategies target individuals due to initiative behaviors and/or related risk factors that place the individual at an elevated risk for substance use and misuse.
The Impact Youth Programs implement a universal evidenced-based curriculum “Too Good For Drugs” and an indicated “Community Based Support Group (CBSG) Youth Connection” curriculum in Midland and Ector Counties.
